Vera Djackova
I'm Vera Djackova, founder and lead photographer at Photo Jazz LLC. Originally from Lithuania, I lived in Chicago for many years before relocating to Charleston, SC. I speak three languages, hold five higher education degrees, and live with my husband, teenage son, two cats, and a dog.
As an internationally published photographer, I specialize in capturing the beauty and talent of dancers through vibrant, joyful imagery. My work includes dance performances, recitals, sports, and individual portraits. I’ve collaborated with top ballet studios, fashion designers, and events like the Model Icon Fashion Show and Pas De Deux conferences.
At Photo Jazz, every session is a celebration of movement, personality, and the magic of artistic expression.
My mentors
Jerry Ghionis
photographer
Las Vegas, NV
The most influential mentor in my photography journey, Jerry Ghionis has profoundly shaped how I see, create, and connect through the lens. I had the privilege of learning from him during an intensive 5-day workshop in New York in 2024, his online courses, and WPPI conference lectures. Widely regarded as one of the top five wedding photographers in the world, Jerry is a master of light, storytelling, and style. His ability to combine technical brilliance with emotional depth continues to inspire me. Jerry’s teachings go far beyond photography—they're about excellence, creativity, and building a meaningful, lasting legacy.
Ron McKinley
dance photographer
Ron McKinney Photography, Chicago, IL
I’ve learned from Ron McKinney through the Pas De Deux Conference and a Chicago workshop. Since 2008, he’s photographed leading companies like Houston Ballet and Hubbard Street, and works with numerous studios across the U.S. Ron is also the co-founder of Pas de Deux Photo, a nationwide community for dance photographers. His experience and dedication to the craft have been a major influence on my journey.
I believe growth comes from learning, and I’m grateful to have studied under some of the most inspiring and respected photographers in the industry. Their expertise, creativity, and generosity have shaped my artistic vision and professional path. Thank you to all my teachers—here are just a few who have had a lasting impact on me.

Her photography has been featured in major publications including The Washington Post, ELLE, Dance Spirit, and Broadway Dance Magazine.
